"Property is operated like a vending machine. No staff to check you in. This was ok. The rooms were very small and cramped but I was expecting this as we booked budget accommodation. Would have given it more stars except they only provided 1 pillow each which meant that we didn’t sleep well. "

"The staff were amazing! Best price in town. We took the shuttle every morning and then walked back after skiing. The breakfast was free and I decided to skip it but the Ramon restaurant at night was really tasty. Our skis were safe and in a warmed locker. Really wonderful overall."

"As nice as the owner and family are, I can't really recommend this place. Location is 2km out of town so you must have a car. Location is very quiet at night but in the hotel room you can hear water running from toilets etc in other rooms and people walking on the floor above. And I had some sort of tapping sound in my room early in the morning on the second night which made it hard to sleep. There is a fridge and hot water urn in the room, but no tea or coffee (lucky I had my own)and only...

"An extraordinary experience. A two story room! Cozy hosts, a heated basement for ski equipment, only 4 min walk away from the lifts and ski rental. The only nuisance is that there are only two showers at the bottom and sometimes they are taken. There is a laundry room downstairs with coin laundry. The heater is too intense and partially melted my suitcase…be careful. Otherwise lovely stay. "

The entire experience was seamless despite having no on-site staff, and I was impressed by both the cleanliness of my room and the functionality of the shared kitchen. "The owner “Yama sang” and staff are so polite and nice. Yama sang would drop you off at ski resorts and major hotels and attractions if you need a ride. Breakfast is included although the stay is very reasonable. Breakfasts were excellent. I had problems coming back home since I couldn’t make bus reservations. Yama sang called bus company for us and successfully made a bus reservation for us. Although google may say “temporarily closed”, they are open. Their restaurant business is closed from...

Must stay here if you’re in Toya.

"A really clean hostel that provided a clean set of towels and toothbrush set. There’s a curtain for each bed so I had privacy. Even if it’s full house, there was ample space for luggage. There’s a comfy lounge area with water dispenser for me to chill. Don’t forget to try the curry rice. It was exceptionally good and slightly different from the regular Japanese curry. Toya lake was just across the street and the famous Waseimo store was right in front of The Toya. Two combi stores nearby if you like to get snacks. "
