"Overall I'd give 4.5 stars. Great location if you want to be close to the National Park. I received a free upgrade to the king room on the ground floor, but there was a persistent musty smell, similar to a gym locker. The dehumidifier in the room would not work, despite the instructions to juggle the tank until the light turns off. I suspect this is the cause of the smell. Otherwise the accomodations were fine, bed was not very comfortable but worked after a long day hiking. Check in and check...

"Pros: Great place to view the volcano and be in the park. Unique experiencle. Cons: not enough dedicated parking for the hotel guests because parking was also open to day visitors, forcing hotel guests to park quite far away. "

"We’ve stayed in the Volcano area three times and this was the best accommodation by far. Check-in was flawless and our room was clean, large, and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything. There was a mini-fridge with freezer and a microwave. There were also a few necessary cups, dishes, silverware and glassware. This is SO important in Volcano, as there are so few dining options. If you bring a well-stocked cooler, you could spend several days here comfortably. We would stay here...

"This place is confortable and super well situated for visiting Volcanoes National Park, which was our goal. Hot tub is a great bonus. The place was nice and clean, but does not have much cookware. If you're OK eith this, it is a great rental."

"The room was beautiful and relaxing. I wanted to spend time there! Everything seemed well thought out so the small details made it quite a special experience. The bed and linens were great, the fruit was lovely, and the coffee/tea with the table set was welcoming. I could warm up quickly if it got chilly, and the private patio with rocking chairs was a nice way to enjoy coffee at dawn. "

"Our stay at Tree House in Volcano Rainforest was excellent. The host communicated clearly and was very responsive. The location is perfect if you want to visit Volcanoes National Park.The house is the top story of a structure and consists of two main areas. The downstairs has a front room with two couches and a small heater, and a small kitchen. There is a plugin hot plate for stovetop cooking, a small microwave, and a small toaster oven. "Our first time in Hawai’i, and this place was one of the highlights of our trip. Surrounded by lush forest and secluded, it was the perfect getaway. The central location on the island allows for east access to everywhere. We will definitely be talking about/recommending the volcano mist cottage to others. "

"My stay here was nice, but I suggest arriving there during the day, it's very dark there at night. The place was very nice and tropical nature feel. It was clean but smells like cedar, if that bothers you. Very comfy bed too. I stayed two nights with no problems. The area is dark and nothing around. Very secluded and a little eery when staying alone but it is very close to the volcano which is why I came! All in all great stay! "
