"Really good option, at walking distance to the city center. Staff is great and welcoming, and the place is a great place to start or finish (or both) a trip to Costa Rica. The place has a 'good-hostel-vibe', has an associated parking garage nearby (at a cost) and it is safe and quiet. Rooms are spacious and clean. Just be aware that restrooms are shared - which were not specified when we first made the reservation. "

"I am grateful for the amazing affordability of this hostel which was also paired with a low-key easy-going atmosphere. When I was told that there would be “a pancake” in the morning I wasn’t expecting much but I was happily surprised to discover that this pancake was very large, neither over cooked nor under cooked and it was decorated with two different fruits on top along with syrup of course. Thank you! I’m so grateful."

"Check in is a 3pm and I got there waaay before that but Jorge (the front desk person) had the room ready in like an hour so I can check in. I traveled by myself and this place was enough for me, just what I needed. Affordable and just a few minutes walk from restaurants, park, market and bars. The room had a fridge a microwave, a sink and TV. Only thing it didn’t have was a coffee machine, I drink a lot of coffee but it really wasn’t a big deal, its Costa Rica you find coffee everywhere;) also...

"The owner and the staff are awesome. The room is excellent for what you pay. But the building is old and not renovated. The hotel is very secure. It has air conditioning and room cleaning every day. "The nicest and sweetest family runs this hostel. I broke my phone during my trip and the lady that runs it went out of her way to help me order a taxi ride on a local ride app with her phone to make sure I got the airport safely to get home. She didn’t speak English but that didn’t stop her being a great person and helping me out. Showers could use more warmer water but overall not issues "

"Small nice hotel in the heart in San Jose on barrio Escalante, very convenient to stay 1-2 nights to enjoy the city and/or night life . Room is average, beds, beddings, towels, soap in the bathroom, no fan or AC, it was a cool weather, so no needed. No elevator for the second floor, about 10 steps. The breakfast is great with traditional Costa Rican gallo pinto, coffee and fruits to start the day. Easy to walk everywhere or call Uber/taxi"

"La habitación tenía varias cucarachas grandes, pedimos que por favor las sacaran y echaran algún tipo de insecticida, luego de esperar varios minutos porque supuestamente estaban limpiando, entramos a la habitación y ahí estaban las cucarachas vivitas y en las mismas esquinas, tuvimos que matarlas y sacarlas nosotros mismos. Eran demasiadas, grandes y pequeñas. En adición, el hotel no cuenta con estacionamiento, el carro se tiene que dejar en el borde de la carretera. "
