"The room was big and everything was clean, although there was a chemical smell, which was still there after leaving the balcony door open for a while. At least it was possible to open that door and get some fresh air in. This is not always possible in hotels in Cairns. The whole experience was functional but a bit clinical."

"This hotel has a grand entrance to drive up to. The rooms are large and well appointed. However, it seems like the front desk staff, at least the ones I dealt with, are not the top team. I'd ask a question and get an off topic response. Then I'd have to repeat myself. While this could be a luxury property, they need to make some cosmetic improvements like: the pool needs to be resurfaced, the roof and siding of the adjacent building needs to pressure washed and painted. "We really enjoyed our stay at By the Sea. It has everything - Bikes, board games, water cooler, in room kitchen and washer/dryer, all beach gear. And most importantly if is a minute away from the beach , walking distance from Shopping and dining options. Good for family stay"
