"Really, it's a 3.5/5 Bed comfy. Breakfast great, as was the server. Room (112) had a stain on the ceiling. Half the light switches did nothing. Room far too dark. The whole system is batty, pop some labels or explanations up. Bathroom sink was blocked. Bathroom door handle very difficult to use, stiff, slippery & worn. All of these are simple, minor glitches but indicative of poor attention to detail. Don't charge high prices and position yourself as premium if you don't hold yourself to high standards. Pretty disappointing, felt a bit contemptuous TBH."

"We have stayed in Stratford a number of times over the last 28yrs, this was the first time at the Alverston Manor - on arrival we were checked in very quickly and when we arrived at our room there was a small box of chocolates as a gift for my wife (as it was her birthday) which was a lovely surprise However, the room was a Standard Double, and not the Deluxe Room booked So I popped back down to reception, upon informing the chap on reception, he checked the booking and told me that the room we was allocated was a Delux. I had quite clearly booked a traditional room in the old part of the hotel with drapes over bed etc, and the room they had given me was in the extension building, so I knew as we arrived that it was wrong I showed him the pictures from the website clearly showing it to be the wrong room, after a while looking at the screen he apologised which miffed me a little as I now thought he was trying it on! He said they only had one room left in the old part of the building (this was also nothing like what we booked!) I was then told to wait in our room until the manager got in 30mins later to try and sort something. Instead we decided to go and wait in the bar. I went back to reception to inform them of our whereabouts and the lady on reception told me that there was another room!? She showed us the room, and although it wasn’t exactly what I had booked it was slightly similar and I didn’t want to make any more of a deal about it! So we took it! Sorted! "

"All the staff were polite and helpful. Our rooms were very clean and included many little extras for our dog, so we didn't need to bring bed, bowls, towels etc with us. The patio areas were also well furnished with a bag of blankets to keep us warm, if required and we had lovely views from both rooms over the golf course, towards Tewkesbury and the hills beyond. There were several small lounge areas to enjoy, one of which we could share with our dog. We chose to eat in the dining room, dogs not allowed, the dining menu was limited but everything was fresh and delicious - we choose to eat there two nights. It was a 30 min walk to town, just over a mile. We found it difficult to navigate the dog walk around the golf course, some areas being too wet after recent rain but better signposting would have helped. I have already booked for another break next year and very much look forward to returning. "
