"Somewhat obsessed with booking me in for breakfast 3+ days in advance of staying, Dir to availability, and it didn’t reach 50% capacity. WiFi in the room was poor, which hindered me working and watching a movie. Comfortable stay, lovely bar and fireplace area."

"Fantastic location, convenient base for short Ullswater stay. Staff mostly great and welcoming, rooms very clean, corridors and paintwork showing wear and many scuffs. Room tea coffee facilities excellent, evening meal was very average and probably over priced. Breakfast, service and overall environment lovely and excellent service. Set us up well for the day and one of the nicest breakfasts I've had. Would definitely consider a return stay when in Ullswater. "

"I went for two night stay and I was very lucky with the weather. At times it felt like summer and I was able to sit and wait for squirrels in the nearby reserve. The hotel was comfortable. I had a very nice room which was slightly old-fashioned, but then that’s how the Shap Wells hotel is. It has a very quirky lift which, when you reach the first floor, it opens at the side. "We had a delightful time at the Troutbrook Inn. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, plus they were certainly dog friendly. As this was my first time travelling with my dogs this was so reassuring. Would certainly book again if making a return visit to the area. "

"Lovely stay. Only comments are that the bed was too high and the toilet too low in the accessible room and the shower cubicle was a little small. Otherwise we very much enjoyed our stay."
