"We were staying on the west side of the island most of the time, but stayed here one night to catch an early tour from Hilo the next morning. I saw in some reviews/descriptions that surfers like to stay here, so I was a little skeptical. There were 5 of us(all adults) so they put us in a family suite, and i was VERY pleasantly surprised how nice this is and very affordable. Its not fancy, and you can tell its an old building, but everything is very well maintained, clean, and a great front desk manager who took time to show us to the room. My only criticism of the room is not very many electrical sockets and some of those were worn so that the plugs would fall out. But, if we stay in Hilo again, this will definitely be a the top of our list."

"Overall it was a good experience for the price. No frills accomodations that are adequate for a good night's sleep. The property has good potential and it appears they are working on improving the overall facility with some remodeling. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It felt safe and was overall a good resting place for the night."

"This rental made such good use of the one-acre lot - we enjoyed the mirthful pool and garden area, the garden, ocean and starlight views from an assortment of decks, lanais and gazebos. We felt like we hardly had to leave the property. But just a few minutes up the road were rocky beaches for whale-viewing, bamboo forests with waterfalls, and a cascading stream with refreshing swimming holes. Cannot wait to return to Honomu House."
