"I do not recommend to stay in this hotel if... 1). you cannot speak basic Japanese. The staff cannot speak basic English and they were not even trying to use any translator device to communicate with foreign guests. I had to use limited Japanese to communicate with the staff. 2). you cannot tolerate heat nor noise. I checked in 2 days ago. This is already April which is spring season, but the hotel still had not offered cool function of air conditioning. How stubborn the hotel management is....

"Absolutely loved our stay at Ace Hotel Kyoto! It was a great location & very walkable to nishiki market and other shopping areas but still in a quiet neighborhood to come home to after a long day of exploring. My only critique is I wish they had 1 firmer pillow & 1 soft pillow like some of the other hotels we stayed at during our stay in Japan. The pillows were a bit too soft for our liking but was not a deal breaker. Lovely hotel & great staff, we'd definitely stay there again! "

"Excellent Hotel and rooms as well as very friendly staff. Breakfast options were great as well. The only downside was that their onsite restaurants did not offer very much in terms of vegetarian food options. So, we had to travel into town for meals. The hotel is away from the main town area. Otherwise, the stay was really comfortable. "

Very good hotel

"The room was nicely spacious compared to others and luckily had a laundry room on bottom floor, which was busy but did help when I needed to run a load due to weather soaking me. Location was great as it was already close to 2 attractions in Kyoto and near the station to get anywhere else and had a wonderful service to shuttle over to the bamboo forest which was much better than looping around on the subways. also about 2 doors down was a Kyoto Coop which had food and drinks i could pick up as i leave/came back from a long day. to note i am 6 foot 8 inches or 2meters and the bathroom and bed length were good enough for me which was a plus."

"This place was awesome. It was clean, had fun free snacks, and was really close to everything. The rooms were great and fairly large. We appreciated the washer / dryer in the room and the microwave. The staff was friendly and we had no problems only knowing English. "

Nice escape from the city.

"Facilities offer multiple options for pawns and saunas. Beds are super comfortable, rooms were large enough and well decorated in traditional Japanese style. Location is very convenient. "
