"This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The present owners have upgraded in various ways, including adding in-room air conditioning (we didn't need, but it was nice to have the option), retrofitted bathrooms, kitchen, wiring, and similar. "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beauty scenic property. Mary has created such a wonderful surrounding, full of calm and peacefully set against a picturesque backdrop. We were surrounded by nature, wildlife, and so many things to see and explore each day. Mary, herself, is amazing. "Lovely cottage separate from the owners house but on the same lot. Great views of the ocean and sunrise. Well equipped kitchenette for self-catering as there are not many restaurants near by, however there is a grocery store in the next town over. Nice to hear the frogs at night, was very soothlng. Morning will bring sounds of cockerels so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. There is a fairly soft double mattress and a say bed, making this a perfect getaway for a couple. "
