"'Shoes off, Yakata wearing' traditional Japanese experience! Very comfortable and warming. With tattoo restrictions on many Onsens and Sauna facilities around Japan, the private onsens here make it accessible. You can stay on the quiet side of the river or head over the bridge for the hustle and bustle. Very breathtaking area. Highlight was the traditional breakfast and dinner. So much food with such a huge variety. Would go back again if I was in the Kyoto area. "

"The room is very clean and quiet, comfortable , and beautifully kept traditional Gion room. The staffs are very kind and polite. Their dinner course meals were amazing! The Gion Ryokan is located in the center of the old Gion neighborhood , and the hotel was above than my expectations. "

"I love that that I had my own private onsen bathtub in my room. I was able to see the sunrise from this bathtub, which was such a cool experience. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast buffet was so good here! The seafood is really fresh, and the Omi beef shabu shabu was the best part. "It was fantastic to experience a more traditional Japanese style accommodation. The futon beds were really comfortable. Trying the Japanese breakfast was well worth it and the fried tofu in miso was delicious. It is great to find accommodation who goes above and beyond to be sustainable. "Fantastic ryokan with friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are nice and have new bathrooms from 2022. Their breakfast and dinner options were as good as any traditional Japanese restaurant I tried in Kyoto. The public bath had a scenic view from the 6th floor."

"We had an amazing time during our stay. The service was impeccable and personalized. We had a kaiseki dinner and breakfast, both of which were a great way of learning more about Japanese culture. I definitely recommend spending a little more to get the dinner. They also provided us a celebratory dish since this was our honeymoon trip! We also got the room with a half open- air hot spring bath which was particularly relaxing to soak in after a busy day of walking. I will love to come back to...
