"Beautiful relaxed vibe, cool location. Not a resort, but better I think. Loved the restaurant right on the beach where you can dine with your toes in the sand. Beach has a fair amount of shade from pine trees. Nice location close to a walking/biking trail and a touristy shopping plaza. Also not very far from a ton of other restaurants and shops just up the road. The Wailua river is extremely close. The only one thing I did not like was that the room looked right onto the pool on the ground floor and people could see right in the room - would have loved to have been able to keep the blinds open. Otherwise, the staff were very attentive and accommodating. Would definitely stay there again!"

"Beautiful setting. Grounds were pristine. Pool inviting. Great location. Quiet and only the sound of the waves. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast foods to go were well stocked. Coffee pot, and coffee in room very good."

"Super friendly, helpful staff, immediate positive response to any issue. The property itself and our room was wonderful. It was perfect for us. The downside was nightly noise from roadwork going on all night during weekdays. Some room renovations going on below us was on the noisy side as well. However, we would gladly come back and stay again. We also really enjoyed being in the historic town of Kapaa and all it had to offer. The Coral Reef was a great home base when we ventured to all the other areas in Kauai we visited. Thank you so much to everyone there for all the kindness you showed us during our 8 day stay.❤️ "

"This was our second stay at Pono Kai. First time in this unit. Really enjoyed this two bedroom with a loft. Lots of amenities. Comfy beds. Fully stocked kitchen. Great owners. Would love to return. Indeed, my daughter is lobbying for me to buy a unit. That’s high praise!"

"Our family of 4 stayed 9 nights. The condo was bigger than we expected with lots of space and one extra bed than what we thought. This was a great surprise which allowed the kids to have their own beds for the trip.We arrived late at night, but the check-in process was seamless. Communication was excellent and all information was provided ahead of time.The condo was well stocked and we ended up eating most breakfasts & dinners in the condo to save money. Costco was a quick 15-20 minute drive away, and other grocery stores were close to pick up essentials.The unit provided 4 beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler, which we used every day. Kapa'a was centrally located for 1/2 day trips to the north side (Hanalei), south side (Poipu) and west (Waimea Canyon). We spent time at two great beaches within a few minutes drive - Lydgate and Kealia - in addition to others around the island (Anini, Poipu, Brennecke's, Lawa'i). The snorkeling at Lawa'i Beach was one of the highlights as it was like swimming in an aquarium!The location of the actual condo had some positives & negatives. We really enjoyed the ground floor unit as it was nice to walk out the lanai to access the pool and grass areas. Parking was also very convenient. The downside was that the lanai was right next to a main path to the pool, the outdoor chessboard and the putting green, so there were times when we had little privacy when sitting outside.We really enjoyed our stay. "The property fit my party of 5 well and the location was very convenient. We loved being on ground floor ocean front. We appreciated the beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels available for our use. The sofa bed was comfortable and air conditioning worked perfectly. We also appreciated the laundry soap and having easy access to a washer and dryer.We couldn’t find a dustpan to help manage the sand but made do and it was nice to have the vacuum available. We used a bucket full of water on the back patio to do an extra foot rinse before coming indoors and that helped manage sand as well. We didn’t utilize the resort amenities during our stay but they seemed nice as well. Thanks for a great stay!"
