"The hotel was one of our best experiences overall in Japan. The rooms beautiful and so well equipped, the public baths were amazing and relaxing. Everything was perfectly clean and we felt so welcome. The staff was really on another level. Having travelled to Japan six times now, and stayed in practically every type of accommodation from family ryokans, hostels, business hotels and big “western” style hotels…this by far has been the best. Why? The amazingly friendly and helpful staff. The room design has a nice traditional twist for a modern hotel. Would recommend a lake view room too (great for people watching and having a little deck in a hotel in Japan is unheard of). Highly recommend. "

"Wonderful traditional Japanese hotel (ryokan) with hot bath downstairs. We saw so many beautiful Sakura trees on our trip but the most amazing Sakura was right outside of this hotel. Just jaw dropping! Really enjoyed our walks down the stone stairs to the small city, beautiful views and beautiful place. We even liked it more than Kyoto, so quite and authentic :) will be back!"

"This hotel has no staff. A day before checking in, we received an email with a code for the building door, and one for our room door. It was snowing when we arrived, and because the place is unstaffed, the room was really cold. It took several hours to warm it (yes, we also had to clean the dirty heating filter, as other reviews recommended, and translate the remote control to know which button to press because it was not intuitive). The place itself is OK, way bigger than a normal hotel room....
