"Amazing hotel with excellent food, drinks and views. Had a room with the hot tub on the terrace and I was using this a lot during my two day stay. One word of caution if you come by train and with luggage: the slopes are very steep so I suggest to use a taxi which will set you back around 1250 JPY."

It has a traditional feel and the cafe is really nice and the hot springs, however there is no view, unless you pay for the private baths upstairs. "Disappointing. We arrived late at night, and no one was at the reception. Despite trying to call, we received no answer. After waiting 20 minutes, the concierge finally appeared but didn't bother checking our travel documents. The physical key provided was difficult to use, and the lack of English or French speakers made it impossible to seek information. We felt lost and decided to check out early. "Hotel was very nice however if your an American or western at all I wouldn’t stay here, none of the rooms had showers and we had many traditional ryokans on our visit to Japan that did, also all night were sirens for the Tsunami right outside our window. Restaurant was pretty decent but overall compared to the price and the dirtiest city we found in Japan it’s definitely a no way ever again in our books, that’s from a very well traveled outlook. "

"We Americans stayed here for 2 nights. Highly recommended. Great cultural experience for those looking for an authentic ryokan in an older style building with communal bathing facilities. Japanese breakfast was really fun but I had little idea what I was eating. Go with an open mind! I was glad there were a couple of very helpful staff who spoke some English. "Booked an oceanview room. Check in girl that served me was unfriendly but all the other staff were good. The view of the ocean was obscured by a tree and was on the first floor so very disappointed.
