"Hi, I am sorry to say that Expedia Group has cheated on us!!! I know these are harsh words but unfortunately this is the reality. We, a group of 5 friends, had decided to explore the Hakone on 24 & 25 July 2020. For our stay in Hakone, we decided to book our hotel from a reputed organization i.e. “Expedia group”. On Expedia website we searched for an accommodation (single room) for 5 adults, and we got an offer for 18,182 JPY per night (with taxes it comes to 20,000 JPY). The payments /...

"I liked the special care given by the staff. We were well looked after & the private Onsen was great . The property is located close to a bus stop that was very useful. A Lawson’s general store is nearby. The only negative I have, and this is common for most similar accommodation, is that access is by steep narrow stairs and would be difficult for anybody with mobility problems. Would be happy to return."

"A great location right on the lake in Hakone. Although it looked to be fully booked we did not see other guests and it was lovely and peaceful. We stayed for 3 nights and were fortunate to see Mt Fuji for two days of our stay. The onsen in the room was amazing, we used it twice a day or more, so relaxing. "Coming to Gora Hanougi was a highlight of our visit to Japan. We had a room with a private onsen overlooking a forested mountain valley. Tranquil and restorative. The traditional dinner and breakfast were exceptional and served with attention to detail and grace. Though Fuji San was shrouded in clouds during our visit, I would recommend Gora Hanoungi to travelers to Hakone looking to experience a traditional Japanese Inn (included futons)"

"It is a historic hotel so expect the look to be a little dated, however, that is what adds charm to it. Overall a comfortable hotel, bathroom not so great (review is for FORESTWING TWIN FOREST SIDE). French restaurant is very nice for dinner as well as breakfast, it feels a little formal but a nice experience. Hotel garden is nice, staff is very helpful."

"This hotel was excellent - fantastic and helpful service, very clean both in the rooms and in the common areas, great food, serene atmosphere, and generously sized rooms. Our room had a balcony with a private onsen, which was absolutely worth the splurge. The view was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy the futons were when we slept. The location was convenient to the bus lines but still so peaceful and quiet. 10/10 stars, without hesitation. I would love to come back!"
