"I was cautiously optimistic when we booked here. We stayed 4 nights and we loved it. The rooms are older and smaller, but the cleanliness and service well made up for that. I thought the small bathroom would be an issue. Not at all. It was actually very comfortable, shower head and water pressure were great, and the shower was cleaner than most newer hotels I’ve stayed in. Couple other highlights for us were the fabulous (and affordable) breakfast downstairs, including the servers. And walking convenience to everything we needed. The space was somewhat limited and their were the quirks of older buildings, While we likely won’t stay that long in SoBe again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Avalon again for a short beach trip. They did a great job at making us feel comfortable and well taken care of."

"The hotel was a beautiful property with an excellent location minutes walking distance to several stores the Beach restaurants I couldn't ask for a better vacation if I had to stay one drawback it would be that they were out of contract with the beach chair company so there were no beach chairs there but they did offer beach towels"

"Ruby at check in was very helpful and any staff I came across was always smiling and nice… for those of you with a stroller FYI there is a ramp to the right of the building that I found out upon checkout. If you plan on going to the beach get your towels at front desk before leaving and walk through the entrance by 14th street bc it has a sturdy walk way not the entrance straight ahead of hotel to where you walk through sand. Beach loungers and umbrellas are $21 each to rent, and do sell drinks and snacks."
