"This is perhaps the worst hotel experience ever. First of all, this is not even a hotel or hostel or a b&b. It is simply a flat where the owner himself (a rather old italian man) lives and rents out two spare rooms. No website bears an indication of this! In real life the flat looks nothing like the pictures. The rooms dont lock, or better to say the man does not give you the key to lock your room. The bathroom is shared. The man himself hardly speaks any other languages other than Italian and...

"We got a nice upgrade to a family suite that was very comfortable. The WiFi worked well on the 3rd floor; he had installed a repeater. There was TV, but we didn’t speak Italian so we didn’t watch. The bathroom was a little small, but at least it was an ensuite. It was an easy walk to the vaporetto stop on the north as well as the south side of Venice. Nicola was very friendly and helpful and available whenever we needed him. It is a very nice property. Venice is a city of lots of walking!"

"I liked having drinks available in room refrigerator. Very clean room and private/quiet. Close to Vaporetto and a grocery store. Downsides: no room safe, hard pillows, and better variety of breakfast items."

"This is not a hotel. There was no soap, no shampoo... anything you wanted had to be purchased from a supermarket. The room was clean, and very centrally located, but to call something a hotel and not provide even the most basic amenities seems deceiving."

Of course it's Venice, so walking the calli at night will only add to the pleasure of already being there. "Locanda La Corte is an intimate, friendly characterful property. Our room was beautiful and large with Canal views. Rami, the owner is so hospitable and kind he made us feel so welcome, as did all the staff. We ate dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was the best meal of our stay in Venice. Really really good. Accompanied by Rami on base guitar! Such a wonderful evening. Breakfast is a simple but delicious buffet with the best coffee and hot chocolate. The hotel is in a quiet area but very easy to walk to the Rialto, San Marco etc and the hotel is a 10 min walk from the nearest Vaporetto stop Ospedale. Watch out for mosquitoes. We got bitten even in February- but that’s Venice, not the hotel. We will be back. "
