Visiting the Site of the Battle of Hastings that took place in 1066, The crypt of the church is built over the site where Harold II was defeated. (allegedly shot in the eye with an arrow) This led to the beginning of the Norman conquest of England and its history. Under the remains of the church are the amazing vaunted rooms of the dormitory in the east wing.

"The Barn is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. The location is lovely, situated on the edge of Eridge woods and overlooking beautiful countryside - we were spoiled for views in every direction. The Barn was so comfortable and beautifully decorated and we loved the original artworks adorning the walls. Beds were very comfortable. The house has been decorated and designed so well with plenty of space for 5.Maybe a little snug in the sitting room but we managed to get cosy. "Fabulous host. Private cabin, lovely log burner, absolutely magnificent bed ! Shower was great, everything you could need, like milk in the fridge, great coffee etc. lovely view in the morning of the horses, donkey and pony in the fields. Look forward to staying there again !"

"Staff we amazing - hospitable, friendly and really accommodating. They had great recommendations for the local area, the room was a great size for four people, and it was extremely clean. Great amenities available, and lovely surrounding area for food, pubs, and good vibes. Will definitely be returning here when I next visit!"

"Nice staff, everything worked well, parking was cheap thanks to a discounted on-road pay and display scheme, property is a bit dated in places but all was fine. Pianist in the bar was a great touch. I would stay there again."

"Exceptionally wonderful. The staff especially Ozoe was amazing. She ensured that my stay was so so comfortable and also the two ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful. This has become our hotel of choice every time we visit Eastbourne and which is very often. Not only are the price and rooms exceptional with awesome views but the hospitality and dedication of the staff is what draws Dr Pilcher and I to the Cavendish Hotel. I would recommend this hotel anytime. Thanks guys for a great stay as always "

"What a treasure Rye has with The George. Extremely well located, about a 10 minute walk (albeit some uphill) from the station parking, a lovely old building that's in good condition. We went at low season so Rye was quiet (great for us, albeit some businesses were closed for staff vacations...not a problem), and very walkable. We enjoyed several small pubs which felt very cosy and welcoming in the cooler nights. Strongly recommended. "
