"We had a great stay at the Sofitel. Friendly staff, nice rooms and a fantastic view over the River Nile and under the right weather conditions also the pyramids. With a room facing towards south we had direct Nile view all the way around us with a nice long distance to the busy streets of Cairo. The room was nice a cozy. Definitely not brand new, but clean and spacious. Only downside is the poor noice insulation of the balcony door. The party boats can be quite loud - so bring your earbuds!...

The room was comfortable enough but the big disadvantage was the noise suppression from the main road outside was inadequate to block the sound from the car drivers constantly hitting their horns.
