"This is an elegant, serene hotel that offers reprieve from the crowded touristy areas but is at the same time incredibly accessible by bus. Very nice supermarket across the street. I wouldn’t change anything about our stay. It was lovely."

"We wanted the ryokan experience and perhaps this is why the room was fairly basic. I would say it is more of a 3.5 star hotel. We overlooked the garden which was ok… we weee expecting more The neighborhood was quiet and nice, about a 15 min walk to the a beautiful temple, the Philosphers Path and the zoo. We don’t think we will stay here again"

The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, even showing us different local matcha varieties used during the meals. If you are visiting Kyoto on your trip to Japan, I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this property for the full Ryokan experience, equipped with a beautiful Onsen, Yukata, and local shrines in Ohara. 10/10"

"Very nice view of the lake. Very helpful staff. The rooms have a private onsen hot tub on the balcony. The rooms have tatami and are set up to sleep on the floor. You can request a bed frame to elevate the futon, but it's better to request a bed when making the reservation (although you may enjoy sleeping on a futon, Japanese style)."
