"Umami is a gorgeous garden hotel! We loved our suites. The decor is just stunning. The staff is courteous and kind. Breakfast tasted amazing! We loved the rice and beans. The parking is minimal. However using bikes, a tuk tuk, or walking is the best way to get around this jungle beach town. Bring earplugs because the birds and other lodgings in the area may wake you up. As a Jamaican, I loved our culture mixed in. We loved Old Habour aka Puerto Viejo! We will definitely go back and stay at Umami...

"This is such a wonderful "gem" of a property. I loved staying here. Every detail of the design is simple, elegant and comfortable. The room was sparkling clean with a well organized and appointed little kitchenette. I could hear the birds and howler monkeys in the jungle behind with easy access to the beach, restaurants and facilities of Puerto Viejo. Thank you to all the great staff. Wonderful. "

"Amazing immersion experience in the jungle. The grounds and the 360 experience cabin were so beautiful. Included breakfast was super fresh and delicious each morning and we were able to get laundry service on site. The cabin has interior walls, full bathroom and functional kitchen with propane cooktop, fridge and cooking utensils. The exterior walls are mesh, with privacy curtains if you feel the need. "The hostess was nice but due to having no windows it was extremely hot in the room at night. Also the owner has dogs that like to bark when anyone drove by no matter the hour. Luckily the hostess worked with us and let us cancel our reservation to find a more quiet place that had windows and ac."
