"Umami was such a wonderful boutique hotel. The staff was so awesome and giving. The hotel itself was perfect for my solo trip. The middle of town and a short walk to the beach or several restaurants and markets. I especially liked the fact that you could interact with locals and not only tourists and it was only a tuk tuk ride away to really nice beaches further down the coast. So looking ready for my return to CR and will def be staying here!"

"We had a wonderful time at Casa Luna House. The property is beautiful and well maintained. We loved the outdoor spaces and it worked out well for us to have the separate rooms downstairs, it gave my daughter and her partner privacy while I was upstairs with her teenagers. The only issue I had was that the coffee pot was unusable. The wet coffee grounds hadn't been removed from the previous guest and it was covered in mold. A through cleaning was needed. Having the beach just across the road and the constant sound of the waves was wonderful. I also really like the close access to a little store as well as the charming hotel Banana Azuel for occasional meals. I would recommend Casa Luna House to everyone. "

"Lovely property. Few rooms, very zen, quiet except for the howler monkeys lol. There is parking. Louis was super helpful. Suggestion: we felt the room needed more spots to put things on. Maybe an additional console or some hooks on the wall. We would stay here again. "

"We felt so lucky to have this beautiful home to return to after a day at the beach or hiking! The outdoor shower is ingenious, pool was refreshing, and the yard is plant paradise. The beds were comfortable, air conditioning in the bedrooms was so wonderful at night. We loved spending time cooking outside and listening to the geckos at night. Great communication with the property management company as well. Would absolutely recommend!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Buddha house! It was beautiful, bright, clean and the back yard was huge and lush with greenery. The house was very well equipped, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. (Tip: To get hot water in the kitchen, you have to run the bathroom sink at the same time, otherwise there is not enough pressure to get the hot water tank working.) It was a quiet location which was a nice change after having stayed in other towns where dogs were constantly barking and motorcycles were ripping up and down the roads. This Vrbo is a 5-minute drive to a black sand beach and 10-20 minutes to several other beaches, restaurants and shops. We got a pin drop to find the place and ended up having to message the host to get the exact location, but otherwise checking in was smooth. Be prepared to share the house with random insects, but that is the nature of places in Costa Rica, as houses are not completely sealed like they are in North America. We had tiny ants in the kitchen and I brought quite a few centipedes back outside but like I said, that's something to expect in Costa Rica. We were only planning to stay 3 nights, but we enjoyed the house and Puerto Viejo so much that we extended our stay to a full week. It was just as nice to lounge around the house as it was to go out and do things. I would definitely stay at this Vrbo again and just hope it will still be affordable when we go back to Costa Rica! It was a phenomenal deal for all that we got! "

"Stayed in the house for 26 days. If things would have worked out the way I wanted we would still be there now...through the end of March 2025.There were 2 other people at the property - the property owner and a groundskeeper. The owner has quite a few interesting stories to tell. The groundskeeper was very helpful for getting a tuk tuk connection, arranging water bottle deliveries, identifying edible plants growing on the property, etc.We rented bikes which were great for a quick ride to the SK market or into town. Other beaches such as Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo are also within reasonable cycling distances.The house does not have air conditioning. But my routine was when I started to get hot, the ocean was so close I would jump in the water for a bit and sit on a log in the shade to cool off. Or I would take a short bike on the dirt road by Banana Azul for some more secluded beach spots.The washing machine was a new experience for me. It is more interactive than what I am accustomed to but not a burden by any stretch.Our host Susana was responsive and helpful. We used WhatsApp which aided in communication.The upstairs balcony provided a nice private spot from which I saw a sloth traverse the wires across the street several times during our stay. Also saw a monkey quickly pass on the same wires a couple times.I feel the house enhanced my enjoyable experience. I am looking forward to visiting PV again and can hopefully book this house again."
