"I’m writing a 5 star review because they went the extra mile. I arrived with my family after a long drive at 1am. Their check in was closed and no staff was present. I was stressing out that I wouldn’t be able to check in to my room and my family would spend the night in the car. However when I arrived I found at the reception an envelope with my name on it and my room keys inside. We got to sleep on a bed after a long nights drive! Thank you for being considerate in that way!"

"Great stay at Whitneys right at the Shovel Handle and Black Mountain! Great food and beautiful views! Nice little fire pits outside too."

"Drive-up motel entrance so we can go in and out of room close to car and not have steps or lobby to contend with. We could bring our ski gear in easily to room. Very clean, everything we needed, great king mattress, hot water, good heat. You do need earplugs because of the truck traffic that downshift in front of motel, and if you are a light sleeper, it could wake you in the early morning. "

"Every member of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the tavern, was very friendly and professional. We will plan to stay there again on our next trip to the area. "
