"Excellent room Staff are helpful but cannot speak English. Comfortable place The only complaint was the food. It snowed on the night of arrival and the next day we decided to use the hotel dinning. There plenty of choices but the food are not as fres at other places and was quite expensive . We later found reasonably close by restaurant which are actually cheaper. "

"The Takinoyu Hotel was superb! It was larger than I thought and very luxurious feeling. We booked one of their more traditional rooms which was very spaceous and the view of the garden was lovely. We didn't have time to visit their baths but they looked very nice. The staff were great also, very friendly and helpful! Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay here again! "

"Loved our stay at Omiya. Great location and great experience for a first timer at a Ryokan. Docked a star because instructions for using facilities were slightly confusing and beds gave both my partner and I back problems. They were accommodating to tattoos (using tape or just going when no one else was around) which was a pleasant surprise. Would stay again!"

"We stayed here for a week while visiting our daughter who lived nearby. The staff were friendly, and polite. No problem with communication even though I do not speak Japanese. I really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The view of the mountains from the room can't be beat. I agree with one review that said the toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan, as crazy as that may sound. Highly recommend!"

"It was a very nice stay. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful with luggage. The hotel is very close to Zao Sanroku Station. Since there was a lot of snow on the top of Zao Mountain, the staff knew that we were here to visit. He saw that we were only wearing sports shoes, and suggested lending us a pair of rubber boot for temporary use. I was really so grateful to him. "Quiet, secluded, old fashioned yet charming hotel in a small town. Very nice and very nice people. The initial welcome was lacking. I was left outside in the cold with my baggage after being greeted by a staff member. I waited for my partner to park the car before we could make it in. I thought the worker was going to get a cart. "The breakfast is truly an amazing value!! Such an abundance of healthy, hearty food for 500 yen. The bath is quite nice! The lobby and lounge areas are super swanky, too! The single-person room was good enough for me! A complementary snack and teabags, with a hot water pot and a pitcher of ice water provided. Very polite and kind staff at checkin, breakfast, and checkout. They also held my luggage for the day after checkout."

"Even with our limited Japanese skills, the staff understood and communicated with us with great ease. Everyone was extremely nice, polite and pleasant. "Excellent resort beautiful views from ocean view room and the lobby area. We did half board and buffet style breakfast and dinner were excellent. The hotel is situated on top of a steep hill so walking into the town is not an option but the hotel provides free shuttle service which is very convenient."
