"The rooms had a classic "Showa era" style, which gave them a great atmosphere, and were quite spacious for two people. The onsen was on the small side but clean and nice, with a pretty outdoor area. There was a lounge area with free drinks, nuts, and dried fruit. It was a decent value. I'd stay there again."

"We were picked up from the train and immediately got a ride to the monkey park, a major reason for our visit. The hotel then sent a shuttle to pick us up and return us to the hotel where our luggage had already been taken to the room. This was a more traditional place with shoe removal and slippers provided. Dinner was incredible despite my not loving a few of the items in the set course menu. Breakfast was equally fulfilling. We did not take advantage of the public onsens due to our short visit...

"Loved our stay at Shibu Onsen Kokuya and would highly recommend. They made the trip into the mountains and to see the snow monkeys very easy - with transfers included and bag drop to the station. The traditional dinner and breakfast were a great experience. Also loved the variety of onsen’s available within the hotel itself - and private Onsen with your room if you want! "

"This was perfect from check in to check out. Staff met us at the front gate, check in was easy with Kato helping us with dinner reservations and explaining where the onsen, reading room and other services were located. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional... all of the staff were so attentive. Arina was so lovely too. The food was incredible, delicious and tasty. The room was spacious and the bathroom with the private onsen was perfect. Our stay was perfect... Highly recommend staying...
