Ryokans in Shizuoka Prefecture

"This is a great value property close to Shimoda and the railway station. All rooms are slightly different in layout and are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. I booked a room with a shower for both my stays. Windows are double glazed making the rooms very quiet. There are two private onsen for the use of the guests, which are wonderful. There is no lift and my room was on the third floor. The staff spoke some English and were always very helpful. The bicycles they have for hire are...

"Great service"

"We had high hopes for this ryokan, and while the stay was overall great, there were a few downsides. The property itself is gorgeous, and the staff was kind and attentive, but the place definitely had a noticeable mildew smell, which took away from the experience a bit. Unfortunately, we missed out on both breakfast and dinner because we didn’t book those in advance (lesson learned). I tried reaching out 24 hours before check-in but never got a response, so just a heads-up to plan meals ahead...

The views were incredible, the food amazing and the staff was very helpful pointing out the laundry facilities and a pedestrian walking path nearby. "Flash hotel with an incredible view! Each place has got a bath tub on the balcony. The rooms are newly renovated and as everyone says they have an open bar and they allow you to take drinks upstairs, didn’t eat at restaurant. Everything closes nearby at 2:30 so I suggest you bite the expensive bullet and get the meal plan. Location is great inbetween dogashima and zojima. Definitely geared for Japanese couples.
