"The location of the hostel, a few blocks from the main street, is great. The AC in the rooms also works wonders. There wasn't any hot water when I showered, so that was a bit jarring. The staff was incredibly helpful in assisting me with places to visit and see. I don't know if I would stay here again, but I appreciated their help!"

"Hotel Varela has the MOST beautiful courtyard and rooftop terrace. I arrived and there were 2 towels and 2 soaps. ( I have never been given a towel in a hostel before!). The room was spotlessly clean (as is the rest of the property). There is a big functional kitchen and plenty of bathrooms so one never has to wait. The staff are friendly and helpful. "All rooms are internal rooms. No real windows. Walls very thin. Running water in pipes loud. Roma well decorated. After my stay, I left my luggage in the storage area, and when I came back in the afternoon to collect it, the hotel was “closed.” I missed my onward flight. The manager/owner did help get my luggage back and offered me a free night’s stay, but it was too late. I’ve never seen a hotel that was “closed” before. Read the other reviews before booking. I do not recommend it."
