"Before arriving, on the long drive there, the staff were nice enough to give me and my partner a heads-up (phone call) to welcome us into the hotel and update us on any problems they were facing at the time (they said that the kitchen was currently closed, however they were happy for us to order a delivery at the hotel), which I thought was a nice touch. The nature and environment surrounding the hotel are amazing, with huge trees and nearby lakes and waterfalls. Entering the hotel was beautiful, with marble pillars, golden ceilings, and comfy sofas. We had a standard room, which was more than enough. We had a TV, a good-sized bed, a bath/shower with pressure, closeted mirrors and even a bidet. And this was only £60 a night, such a bargain, especially with the location. I thought that everything was up to a very high standard. The only issue I had with the hotel, which isn't a big deal considering how cheap the stay was, but the drink prices at the hotel bar are extortionate, 200ml of classic Coke for £3.50, so if you're planning on staying at the hotel, I would strongly recommend taking your own drinks. Side note: the swimming pool hasn't been open for a year, which is fine, I think I just got confused with some of the pictures of the hotel online, just thought to let you know before any of you decide to take your swimming stuff. Anyway, I was thoroughly impressed by the hotel and the lovely staff, I will be going again. "

"Beautiful hotel with a great history - from the drive up to the hotel you get a good feeling. Parking was straight forward just remember to put your registration number into machine at reception. Reception staff were amazing - didn't get his name but what a credit to himself and the company - so friendly - polite - helpful and upbeat - great start to the stay. Through the amazing old house to our room - we even got a complimentary room upgrade (thank you) old sweeping staircases - oak panelling top quality. Our room was wonderful - great big bed - quality stylish furniture - espresso machine was a nice touch - bathroom top notch - great big shower with rain fall shower head - top quality toiletries. Back through the hotel to the spa / leisure facility really nice sauna - pool - gym (just a point it can get busy as it as has none hotel members. Bar area was lovely sat out and enjoyed the sun on the decking then back into the bar to chill.Breakfast was fantastic - self service loads of choice cooked breakfast - cereal - fruit - pastries. Were able to chill in the lounge area with a coffee and just watch the world go by. Walks around the hotel are nice - with some of the most friendly cows I've every met - coming to the fence and wall for a pet. Loved the stay and will certainly be back again when we are up in the area. "

"Excellent facilities. Stayed here twice, specifically to enjoy the spa packages on offer, what a lovely way to relax. The bedrooms are very comfortable with bathrooms especially well designed in the Woodlands rooms. Or you can enjoy a more period feel staying in the Manor House. Hotel easily accessible from motorways, in a quiet countryside setting, we especially liked the well designed bathrooms. Restaurant and bar areas relaxing, food very good, especially the vegetarian options. Good walking, nearby. Lovely gardens for outdoor eating/ drinks. Plenty parking. Local village Mellor very short drive away, with an excellent pub / restaurant should you fancy a change from hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast ok, not biggest choice if you don't want to pay extra? Have to make your own drinks? Only minor issues if you're on business I suppose. Spa facilities fantastic. My wife always enjoys the 50 min 2 treatment package when here. Very good value especially as it includes a light lunc a glass of fizz, and 2 hours in the fabulous spa pool and saunas. What a way to charge the batteries! As a friendly tip, during summer months we would stay Mon-Thur as this is a well renowned wedding / event hotel. So weekends could be very busy. Check first! Enjoy! "

"My meal on Sunday evening was the best I’ve ever had, and the service by Rula wonderful and friendly.. room was delightful and breakfast delicious hot and perfectly served. Excellent choice the only problem was when paying generally with Hotels.com I pay before I leave home and can use my Keycash points but as Mellor took funds on leaving the deputy manager didn’t know how to use my credit which would have covered my meal. She tried to phone but apparently couldn’t get through. I will be taking this up with you in my return. "
