The hotel is in desperate need of an update; it is not a four star hotel! The common areas/ lift smelt very badly of damp, the walls were scuffed and marked, the hotel room had exposed raw plugs and unfinised work around smoke alarms. The window looked out onto the heating/ air conditioning units and had a multitude of cigarette butts on the roof directly outside of the window. Most inconvenient of all was the bathroom which had a very ineffectual shower and luke warm hot water so that we had to shower at a friends house! We did not dare to eat in the restaurant and so cannot comment on the quality of the food. Its such a shame as this hotel is in a prime location, but is definitely well past its best. We actually checked out a day early.

Hotel very good got an upgraded room on arrival, nice staff especially on check in. Bar area cold in the evening but -5 outside. Breakfast doesn’t officially start till 8am at weekend which is a touch late for some people

The supper was very good but other things not so good. The bedroom lighting was very poor as it was so dim. The shower head mounting was loose so the shower head fell onto my foot. I was irritated to have to pay a parking charge - having not had to do this before in a hotel.

Room was dated and had a very bad musty/damp smell. It didnt clear after leaving the window open for an hour or so. Bedding was clean but room could have been cleaner. Bathroom was dated and needed grout and silicone redoing. The menu in the room had what we can only presume was resude from drug use left on it. Tv didnt work with the remote and the window didnt seal so wind and road noise keep waking us Staff were fine and the bar ok.
