"I stayed with friends and chose the Lion in Shrewsbury for the history and authenticity of staying in an original listed hotel. Our rooms were decorated nicely although the curtains in one room were tired. It must take alot to maintain a large hotel like the Lion. Bathroom not modern but clean with lovely white towels and toiletries and hot shower. All the staff were lovely, breakfast really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Its definitely not a glitzy hotel but the originality of the building...

"2nd stay at this lovely hotel and it did not disappoint. Very helpful staff nothing too much trouble. Lovel comfortable room everything you could need all there. And the superb food hit the spot what a great menu something for everyone "

"The room was clean and warm but dated. The shower was poor due to mixer tap heat control. Overlooked unkempt garden. Only met one staff member who was nice and polite."

"Stayed for 2 nights, room was a nice size. Bed was comfy. Shower struggled to get hot so was just warm and is quite small. The TV is tiny they defo could do with bigger ones. We stayed on the half board option and evening meals were delicious, breakfast was good too. "

"Our stay was fabulous. The food is 12/10 We had our dog with us so we had to eat in the bar but it has a roaring fire and a lovely atmosphere and I’d argue this was the best seat in the house. Our room was in a little outbuilding and it was just perfect. Super quiet of a night too. The servers are all very young and the best and most smiley service I’ve had in a long time "

"The property is spacious and beautiful in an idyllic setting. The gardens and pool were glorious and the sauna was a real plus. We were a large family group and all ages had a wonderful time. However the following impacted upon our stay. The house was really grubby on our arrival, particularly the kitchen, and did not seem to have been cleaned since the previous guests had left.
