"Check in/out was fully self handled but perfectly smooth. There was a kitchenette but it was very hard to actually wash the dishes due to no soap, scrubber, place to dry them, or gunk trap in the sink drain. The shower is set up to dry laundry which works excellently"

While nothing was extremely far away, restaurants were limited unless you wanted to walk 10-15 minutes. Last time I was in Kyoto we stayed at a small hotel in Gion, which was just more convenient for us, given our particular needs. "

It would be have been nice if someone walked us up to our rooms and showed us how to use these appliances when we arrived. The property is very serene but it is too dark, which made it difficult to safely see where I was walking.maybe better for younger clients. "

Good location with highly rated restaurants and shops within walking distance. The negatives: - Being on the first floor and near the street is very loud. Could constantly hear sirens and people talking - There was a sewer smell of the window was open and the bathroom was used - The front desk is typically empty. "Fantastic apartment-style room. We (2 adults, 2 kids - 8&10) had lots of space. The kitchenette allowed us to make our own beeakfast most days. The hotel had small appliances that we could borrow such as toaster and rice cooker. Laundry on site was quick and efficient. We could not have asked for a better hotel. The location was not ideal in that it was not very close to much of the shopping areas (eg. Nishiki market is about a 15-20 min walk). There is a grocery store across the street as well...
