"The hotel staff and people were spectacular! Breakfast was traditional Japanese style food, which may or may not suit westerners. Hotel is a bit dated and it shows. Our room was clean upon arrival; however, we encountered bugs and mosquitoes inside our 3rd floor room. This didn’t particularly bother us, but it may have an impact on other guests. "Great spot away from the busy Tokyo area. The rooms and the hotel is special in its own way and has a lot of character. Felt like being in my grandparents home. Really enjoyed staying here and it made it incredibly easy to walk to and from the train station to get bus tickets. Would definitely tell friends to stay here in the future. "

"I knew I wanted to snowboard at Lotte Arai Resort but I read that it was in a very small town and basically only the resort buildings so i picked this spot because they offered a free shuttle to the nearby mountains. (Not Lotte though its a 40 minute drive and I had to get a separate bus. It was very easy though and the owner was able to help me figure it all out. "夫婦で毎年別所温泉に来ていますが、今年は上山田温泉にしてみました。お部屋もお部屋にある露天風呂も良かったです。女性の露天風呂の薔薇も感激しました。暖かいおもてなしが良かったですが、残念だったのが、夜中まで騒いでいる別客の声が聞こえたりして、あまりのんびりと出来ず、貸風呂の廊下も雨の為とはいえ滑りやすく危険でした。温泉は最高だっただけに少し残念さが心残りです。"
