"I chose this hotel for its location next to a ski resort and I liked the look of the tatami rooms. This hotel is very cheap and you get what you pay for. The room was small and old, the futon mattresses you use to make your bed were thin and I woke up achy every day. The staff were helpful and friendly with limited English. "Having visited in the 4th week of April 2025, it was a vibrant spring floral experience at the Island Park Garden. The villa is on a hill and from the balcony it is over-looking the pine trees and the bay. We loved the peaceful and idyllic atmosphere. The Japanese dinner and breakfast was delicious and the friendly and courteous staff-they were able to converse in simple English made our stay memorable. "
