"Really well located on the doorstep of the city. Had a very friendly welcome and staff were accommodating & helpful throughout. The site said it was LGBTQ friendly and it really was as a LGBT couple celebrating a wedding anniversary we felt very comfortable here. Breakfast was really nice & a decent size. The room was a good size, clean and had a nice view of the art gallery. Evening entertainment was lively & enjoyable. Will be staying here again when we next visit York."

"Its a delightful tavern. Plenty of room on the car park and onto a traditional, friendly bar where my hosts booked me in quickly and with a great intro to how everything worked. I had room 2, in a purpose built outbuilding and I was really pleased with the first impression. Everything worked as it should and there were lots of extras not normally given in this type of accommodation. "Nice pub, our room was above bar so you could hear the bar below, it's a pub at the end of the day so you have to expect some noise. Room clean and tidy bed comfy shower good and hot, tea making facilities tea bags wont replenished. For the price of room it was value for money. "Fabulous location opposite the end of the Shambles and within easy walking distance of all of York’s attractions. Only one vegetarian option on the menu and limited selection of cask ales. There was no room cleaning for the 3 nights we stayed there - toilet rolls and drink replenishment had to be asked for downstairs. Cups were cardboard ‘to-go’ variety and there was no hairdryer.
