"Building very large and very old so the upkeep is going to be a challenge. Couldn't turn the heating down or off in the bathroom so it was nuclear hot in the room when we entered. Had to sleep with the old sash window open. Stayed in room 52 which had no lift access, massive bathroom, ceilings really high, not many power sockets for charging your electricals, TV off to the side of the bed in front of the window which made shutting curtains a challenge. We found it relaxing sand ideally situation location wise for walking and use of the Hatherssge outdoor pool just 5/10 mins walk from the hotel. A must of you stay at the George. Only recently reopened in June 2024 means it is fresh with tasteful decor. Recommend highly and enjoy."

"This was a brilliant hotel for dog walkers. Had fantastic facilities such as shower for the dogs after a long muddy walk. The retreat was a lovely addition for you to go and unwind and enjoy a coffee after a long day. Tori who worked the reception was a lovely lady, very welcoming. Rolo our dog loved seeing her. Added bonus was when Rolo got to meet Santa. Would highly recommend this hotel"

Food was fantastic as well great service dog friendly which was so good to see .
