"Lovely stay with a beautiful rooftop pool. I stayed here for the half marathon race and loved the cooler outside my room and refillable glass water bottle. Location is safe and walkable. To many restaurants and attractions in the city. Would certainly stay here again."

"A great 3 night stay. We loved the location - super views but very easy to walk into the town to explore! We were able to park our car on site too which was a real bonus. Our room was clean comfortable and we had a lovely view of the port. We enjoyed the pool and terrace on our last day. One suggestion and that's for more information to be given on the Spa facilities. We thought they were great but sadly only found out about them at the very end of our stay. I have to mention the breakfast buffet. It was amazing. So much choice, catering for all tastes with great staff too If we returned to Funchal we would definitely stay here. "

"From checking in to dining to nightly entertainment. This resort is above our expectations. The staff at the front desk just couldn’t do enough To make sure our stay was everything we wanted. The dining and wait staff were beyond accommodative to any needs. Friendly, kind and respectful. Helen at the dining runs a great staff, it was so great to see a head staff having fun with everyone. So much respect show amongst staff. And, yes the food was absolutely great. Every meal had so much to choose from. Pestana Royal exceeded our expectations! "The hotel is in a great location, with a walkable area and a lot of restaurants around it. We stayed in a room with pool view and were actually able to walk out the room and go straight to the pool. There also was an ocean view from our room, although we never got down to the beach. The staff was friendly and all the amenities were fine. Free parking was limited, especially since it was also being used by the locals. "

"A wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be. Loved the old world feel of the reception area in the main hotel and the pool & sea view are exceptional. The staff was so knowledgeable and took time to show us about. We had dinner included but were not able to make it so, lunch was provided for us. The breakfast buffet is the best I have seen in Portugal with eggs made to order, warm breads and wonderful fruit salad to mention a few items. Overall, I would come back just to relax by the pool. Downtown Funchal is easily walk able as is the waterfront. The hotel can be very proud of their staff and their genuine concern for the stay of the tourist."
