"The hotel is above a shopping centre without any grounds around the hotel, however, it is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to the old town. All the staff were very helpful throughout our stay. The bedroom was sleek and modern with an ‘open plan’ shower/wash area. The beds were very comfortable with 3 different pillows varying from soft to firm. There are no views other than from the rooftop swimming pool and bar area but this didn’t significantly detract from the stay as we were out most of the time. The breakfast buffet was excellent with good quality ingredients and freshly squeezed orange juice. We were also amused by the mobile robot which took the dirty dishes back to the kitchen. Overall the hotel lives up to it’s 5 star billing, is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend a stay at the Vine the next time you are in Funchal."

"I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, located in a peaceful area that's just a short walk from the oceanfront and not far from the town center. There are plenty of great restaurants, bars, and cafés nearby. The breakfast selection was impressive, and the rooftop bar offered amazing views, along with expertly crafted drinks from the talented bartenders. The service was top-notch, with the front desk team being exceptionally friendly, especially Luis who gave us a warm welcome at check-in. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!"

"This hotel is right beside the natural lava pools in which you can swim. The staff were uniquely helpful and friendly - service excellent without being intrusive. Food was very high quality. Hotel was immaculately clean throughout."

"I loved it! I had a sea view and as expected the sunset was amazing from any angle of the hotel. I enjoyed the breakfast served here. The front desk staff were very professional & helpful. The location it's conveniently (15-minutes away from Funchal) if you decide not to rent a car since public transportation is reliable in the area, literally there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel.... Well recommended. "

"The hotel is excellent.Rooms were spacious, we had a superior Ocean View Room, and were very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is on a steep slope and overlooks the Ocean. Handy for the Lido (5 mins walk) but outdoor pool was clean and quite a big pool, with plenty of sunbeds on several levels for when the warmer weather arrives. We visited in January when it was still warm but pool not so important. It also has a nice indoor pool and a larger than usual gym for a hotel. The promenade at Funchal is a healthy walk away, between 40 mins to an hour depending on whether you take a direct route or not and how fit you are to cope with the many slopes in and around Madeira. However, there is a bus stop and a taxi rank within 3-4 mins walk. Taxis cost about 7 euros to Funchal. Hotel has a good breakfast buffet with plenty of options. Only ate in the hotel restaurant one night which was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel were offering deals for those who wanted to stay on site for evening meals. However, there are many options for eating or a drink within a 10-15 minute walk. Plus many more the further towards Funchal centre you want to go."

"Honestly, I thought this hotel was great. I enjoyed my room: clean, with a great shower and it had the benefit of a fridge and a balcony with sea-view. The daily room service was also appreciated. The hotel's team members were friendly and efficient. It had a decent in-house restaurant, but there was also the option of walking for no longer than 10 minutes to get to other restaurants. Good sized pool(s) with plenty of seating. "
