"This is a beautiful, small hotel in a rural part of Cambodia. My suite had a large balcony and Mekong view. All the food i had there was excellent and freshly prepared. Staff were always helpful but occasionally difficult to find Not many foreign tourists in this area so dont expect English to be other than basic apart from what i took to be the hotel manager. A delightful stay in a historic hotel."

"The hotel is in a beautiful area. The staff is so thoughtful and friendly. We had lovely conversation with the waitress in the restaurant both nights. When we left it was very early so the staff packed us a to go breakfast. Everything we asked for they did their best to accommodate. The room was very clean and well kept up. Not to mention that the balcony left the perfect place to enjoy the view with a glass of wine."

"I felt like I was on a glamorous, 1940s-era Hollywood film set of a Khmer village. Some pieces were dated, but that added to the old-world charm. The island is idyllic (borrow one of the hotel bikes!), but the ferry is finicky. A Canadian couple told me they never waited more than 15 minutes, but I spent considerably more time waiting on it. If you’re in a pinch, as I was, call the hotel and they will call a private boat for you. It’s $5 one way for private boat vs 25 cents for the ferry. The...

The Leaf Foundation is one of the NGOs in the area which is set out to help elephants and the forrest. Elephants which have been used in tourism or on farms before can have a good life here. Right now they have five elephants. Those are "rented" which means the local families still own them. They get money from the LEAF Foundation for health care and basic needs. As a tourist you can book different tours there and see/touch these great elephants. With booking a tour you support the local community as well.
