"Last minute stay in a traditional pub hotel. Room was fine and quite big although I didn't go inspecting everywhere. Had a little black around the shower but hey it's not the Hilton. Food was lovely in the pub, arrived quickly, really tasty. Wouldn't stay for more than a day although the village looked quite quaint until I saw two homeless people fighting outside Gregg's"

"We stayed in the Kedelston room which was a lovely cosy room tastefully decorated and had all the extras that maybe required. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, toiletries and sewing kit. The bar offered a cocktail menu along the usual drinks you would expect. We dined in the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. The food was good quality and tasty and reasonably priced. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this place to others."

"This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!"

"Friendly welcome, on arrival we were shown round, offered cakes, home made (free of charge). Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, all local produce. Accommodation excellent and the owners were very friendly."

"Everything was excellent. My only concern was the very poor drive leading from Staden Lane: huge pot holes in a rough surface made this an unfriendly approach, one not appreciated by my car."

"We had a beautiful stay at Sheriff Lodge. The room was spacious and comfortable and the entire lodge is well decorated with attention to detail including the music in the Drawing Room, information about the local area and amenities in guest rooms. Ziz was generous, helpful and knowledgeable and makes the most amazing breakfasts, as well as lovely coffee. The homely vibe makes the B&B unique and characterful. We would love to stay again"

"Hilary and Graham are very welcoming. We were contacted before arrival with directions. They even had a pot of tea ready when we arrived which was very much appreciated. A nice comfy bed and ample en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast was really good with homemade fresh bread!!! We will definitely stay again."

"I would highly recommend this accommodation option to everyone who wants to travel the peak district. The host is very welcoming and friendly. "An amazing place, fantastic views. The room was excellent, large, clean with a brilliant en suite. The hosts were really friendly, and great breakfasts cooked to order. Definitely worth a stay. "

"This is a very comfortable, spotlessly clean and tidy B and B with a great breakfast and very friendly staff. Some really nice touches are the delicious chocolate bars in rooms daily and on the last day a post card appears on your table of one of the excellent pencil drawings by the owner which line the walls of the breakfast room. "Stayed here for 2 night's in June and loved it, the place is warm and welcoming, the bed was massive and comfy with plenty of toiletries in the bathroom. Shower was easy to use and very clean, definitely stay here again. Breakfast was freshly cooked and cooked how you like it, the host was friendly and veey helpful."

"The hotel is very tastefully decorated and modern the staff very helpful and friendly the food excellent and cost was very reasonable. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was right at the front off the hotel it did have modern double glazed windows but they were useless the traffic outside never stopped until after midnight and restarted around 4 am.I am quite a heavy sleeper but this had to be the worst night’s sleep I’ve experienced at a hotel, the bed looked lovely but we couldn’t turn over...

Super service and lovely room!

"I had a great experience at the Mercure hotel! Robin at the desk was welcoming and upgraded our room when he saw it was my birthday, along with complimentary drinks at the bar. The room was really clean and had a lovely view of the peace gardens. I would definitely recommend and stay there again."
