"It is a historic hotel so expect the look to be a little dated, however, that is what adds charm to it. Overall a comfortable hotel, bathroom not so great (review is for FORESTWING TWIN FOREST SIDE). French restaurant is very nice for dinner as well as breakfast, it feels a little formal but a nice experience. Hotel garden is nice, staff is very helpful."

"This hotel was excellent - fantastic and helpful service, very clean both in the rooms and in the common areas, great food, serene atmosphere, and generously sized rooms. Our room had a balcony with a private onsen, which was absolutely worth the splurge. The view was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy the futons were when we slept. The location was convenient to the bus lines but still so peaceful and quiet. 10/10 stars, without hesitation. I would love to come back!"

"We had a memorable and wonderful time at Gora Karaku. The facilities are beautiful, the staff was kind and helpful, and the food was great. Odetta at the front desk was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. She is great. There was a mistake with our dinner reservation on the second night, but Keishiro Ishihara fixed it, and some. He moved reservations around and got us the table we were promised, and then he had the perfect table reserved for us the next morning for breakfast. That was very thoughtful. Our most memorable experience was Keishiro Ishihara telling us how to get from the restaurant to the water feature and showing us to the elevator and bowing to us as the door closed. And when the door was open on the other floor, he was there waiting for us. He did the same elevator trick a few more times. He even met us in the lobby as we checked out and walked us to the street. And he waived to us until we got to the train station. This was such a kind gesture, and made our experience better and more memorable."

"Beautiful place to stay, next to river. Loved hearing the water stream from my room. The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was Japanese style, not my type but had variety and very clean."

"Staff is very responsive and attentive. Having an in room onsen is great so that we can take a dip in it any time we like. Although the property is a little out of the way, they can always take you to near by bus or train station upon request. Dinner and breakfast are served inside the room. You sit on the floor and the table is about 12-14" high. Sitting cross leg may be uncomfortable to those who are not used to it. Getting up from that sitting position may be difficult for some."

"Property was nestled across the bridge under wide flowing creek. Walking distance from train station. Pleasant atmosphere… Relaxing Hot springs spa. No wonder why its been there since eighteen hundred years."
