The view from the patio of Green Dot Stables is of the backside of the currently abandoned and forever in some state of rehabilitation, Michigan Central Station.

The station opened in 1913 and remained operational until 1988. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world.

A personal connection to this building would be that my father shipped out from this station to Marine boot camp after being drafted in the Korean War.

A return trip for more photos and further exploration is definitely on the horizon.

"The staff was very kind and welcoming. The room was large and clean. There was a bit of a perfumey air freshener scent that, while pleasant, was a bit heavy (I get headaches with heavy scents). In addition to beds, the room had a lounge and a nice sitting area with table and two chairs. Great value for the price! "

"Great experience. New clean friendly staff nice pool and gym. It was a convenient location for us. The room was big and the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. Breakfast (hot) was included and great with lots of selection and different for both mornings. It was an excellent experience especially for the price!"

"This was the best hotel stay I've had in quite some time! The room was exactly as described with a great view. The staff was extremely accommodating with my unusual needs & requests, always pleasant. Parking was a bit inconvenient, but there IS parking in safe place."
