"Very good and especially for the price. Very comfy bed and pillows. Great shower. Wifi excellent and included in the price paid. Good facility as expected ie tea, coffee. Only thing to be mindful of for other guests would be to say the property doesnt make clear that they wont send you details of how to self check in until the actual day of your arrival, as you need a door pincode to access your room, and its very difficult to make contact with the property. "A real hidden jem in a small village with lots of facilities. Opposite the Castle and duck pond. Not far to lots of tourist hotspots and when you get back plenty of free parking. Its an old building with creaking floorboards but that odds to the charm."

"Great location in the heart of Oswestry. Parking at the property is a real bonus. Beautiful old building. The fantastic breakfast would come a close second to the lovely owners for the reasons to stay here."

"We arrived at 6pm and waited 10 minutes to check in. The room we reserved was unavailable. We drove for 20 minutes on single track to arrived from Shrewsbury. The breakfast was none existent. The room was clean and tidy but the lighting was terrible. I think 6.0 rate is suitable."

"Fabulouso!! Ruth was a lovely hostess, very warm and welcoming. This period property was very well maintained, cosy and decorated tastefully. Amazing bathroom, comfortable bed, Welsh cakes a very nice touch and a breakfast full of fine ingredients - down to the homemade marmalade which we bought a jar! We will most definitely return!"

"It’s not worth the price we paid, we booked for 11 person but the bed can only accommodate 10 person that my son end up sleeping on the floor , upstrair toilet floor is leaking down to the kitchen, we emailed the host on the first day but no reply til we check out, So we have to share the the down floor toilet, the hot tub is dirty that we end up cleaning for us to be able to use, dusty and loads of cubweds in one of the bedroom downstairs."

"Lovely 2 night stay at the Lion Hotel, regularly visit Shrewsbury and thought of staying here for a change , we were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews, so please do not discard this hotel because of some negative reviews, you need to stay here to find out for yourself. Easy check in , staff very helpful and always ready to greet you with a smile and hello. Room lovely and clean and nice and warm, as we're all the areas of the hotel. Breakfast was really good, plenty of it, and the lady at breakfast was so lovely, always smiling and nothing was too.much for her, thankyou. Will deffinately recommend the Lion hotel to friends and family, and we will be back. Also £5 per night to park your car there, which is really good value, and very convenient for shops and bars. "
