"This house was a wonderful place to stay. There was no air-conditioning in this place but it was not needed. The wind coming off the sea was sufficient to cool the house and sometimes at night it was cold. The sounds of the waves crashing against the cliffs was the best "white noise" to fall asleep or read your favorite book. The place is stocked with the tools you need to cook with. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. The place is conveniently located close to the Volcano National Park so...

"The Thomas Guard house is a gem in Hilo. The location is perfect - not in the middle of the city but close enough to walk to local restaurants. The beautiful grounds, the waterfall, the river running through the backyard, they all added to the charm. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Charlotte has thought of all the details to make this a wonderful place to stay. It was a perfect way to unwind from an otherwise busy life. "

"The house is good overall, the kitchen knives are scary dull. The rooms were clean and I felt like I was in my own home for the most part. The extra stuff the owners provide like the snorkling gear and chairs were an expense I didn't have to worry about. I've never been to Hawaii so there was some things I wasn't used to like the humidity eating everything including corroding the door locks overnight. One issue that came from that was the unscheduled visit from the owners. I had messaged them...

"Beautiful respite in the rainforest just a few minutes away from Volcanoes National Park. We loved the huge green tree ferns and the flowers surrounding the property, giving it a private fantasy feeling, just like the pictures on the website. We loved the jacuzzi amongst the moss and ferns. We enjoyed the sounds of the many frogs and birds."

"There property clearly is well built with plenty attention the fine details. The yard has a pool and jacuzzi, perfect to keep the kids engaged in outdoor activities. Chase was very easy to work with messages promptly answered. Would recommend property to any traveler or resident alike."

"Loved the gardens and the gorgeous covered lanai (patio). The unit was spacious and the proximity to Volcano NP was amazing! The beds were comfortable. The very minimal kitchen equipment made it hard to make dinner (ie-no large frying pan, etc) and the light coloured carpet was quite stained throughout which lead to a feeling of it being dirty. Easy fixes would make this place 5 stars. "
