"Good independent hotel in great location. VFM. Trays provided for muddy boots is thoughtful. Not so great for people who dislike dogs, especially in Restaurants, but judging by numbers of guests with canines in tow, the hotel has to provide for this. "

"The manager/owner was very friendly and walked us through the whole place and its facilities. Has ample space to cook food and relax and even do your laundry. Seems well suited for "backpacking through scotland" type trips and also longer stays. Also has a box of kids toys in the lounge which occupied my boy for a good while."

"The place is right next to the water - unobstructed view. The 0.7 mile walk to center of Oban was nice in good weather but we got wet several time (expected this for October). Public transportation was hard to find so needed our car. Our room was a little small and cramped, but we could see other larger rooms. Check in and parking was a bit of a hassle. Great “Continental breakfast “ that included meats, cheeses, baked goods and more- well worth the modest cost "

"The location is absolutely stunning, the welcome is warm and the house cat is gorgeous - and Queen of this particular castle. The hotel is beautiful but also quirky. Our room, the Emperor room was nicely decorated in dark green with a big antique cupboard. There’s a lovely view, only very slightly obscured by the conservatory. The room was big, as was the onsuite, and there were great touches e.g. a cafetiere with coffee, supplied free, each morning. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked abd yummy.
