We had a room with both tatami and western beds (raised off the ground) which worked very well for the elders in our group that weren't used to sleeping on the ground. No shower/bath in the room as the expectation is to use the public baths (or private family baths which are first come first serve basis). "I had a lovely stay! Staff was very kind and helpful. Hotel was conveniently situated very near train station. Breakfast was great. Room was perfect and very clean. "Completely beautiful. Everything is perfect, the atmosphere, the delicacy, the lighting, the artwork, the music, the service. Rumi, Kenji and other members of staff are so so friendly. They made me feel like I was in a home away from home. Whilst also having a completely unique experience. The private hot spring bath outdoors at the back of the hotel is out of this world. So dreamy. Beppu is an incredible space and city to be in and staying here just made it so much more special."

"What a relaxing stay! If you have a big tattoo that can’t be covered up, you cannot use the guest onsen. You can reserve a private onsen instead — request it when you check in. The yukata were comfortable and you can select the appropriate size for you. They also had face wash and face lotion in the room which was a nice surprise. The traditional breakfast and dinner were great: healthy and delicious. I wish we had stayed longer! "
