We ate in the restaurant twice during our stay and the menu was varied and quality was good. "Old established pub on the outskirts of Barnard Castle, within a 15 min walk of it's shopping area. Decorated to a good standard, room was bigger than average, with all the usual facilities in working order. However the bed was very soft & its mattress in need of replacement. Food the usual pub menu & of a reasonable standard. A good cooked breakfast was within the room tariff, making it a good value stay."
