"Very welcoming staff so that was a great first impression. Very well presented accommodation. Great shower. Plenty of beverages and having a sofa too in the evening was a bonus. Enjoyed some good food in the pub along with a very drinkable bottle of red. Great atmosphere. Bed was very comfortable. It is only self serve continental breakfast of cereal, yoghurt and toast. "Wonderful experience staying a Standbrook Abbey. Great to see around the historic features of the hotel. The room upgrade was massive with 4 poster bed and roll-top bath as well as a 2 person shower. Had afternoon tea as well as an evening meal and really enjoyed both. Will definitely return if in the area."

"It is a bit of a mixed bag review - the staff and catering were good but the accommodation is not as shown on the web site - the room was small and the bathroom smaller yet. a cupboard in reality. the carpet leading to the bedrooms needed a good clean or replacement which made the whole place look scruffy and dated yet the bar and restaurant quite cosy."
