"建物は古く、経年劣化はあります。けれど、掃除も行き届いていて旅慣れている私には快適でした。みどり屋の温泉も利用出来ますし、こちらの建物の温泉も地味ですが良いお湯でタオルも有り満足です。良いお湯でした。お食事も、みどり屋へ歩く手間はありますが複数種類の鍋を堪能出来ます。その他のバイキングも、品数充分だと思います。食べきれる種類で食べきれるだけ楽しむ良いバイキングだと思いました。鍋用のタレや出汁の種類にもサービス精神を感じました繁忙期に行った訳では無いので、お値段に対しての満足感はかなり高いお宿です。フカフカのベッドや高級感を求めるのであれば、周辺のもっとお高いところを選ぶと良いと思います。"

"Perfect 😍"

"Onsen outside on the river was fantastic and perfect after a day walking. Breakfast was limited and dining options with walking distance very limited. Room was large and traditional Japanese style was extremely comfortable to sleep. "

"I wasn’t expecting multi-course dinners that included sashimi and other top quality ingredients. It was incredible, delicious and filling. Great breakfast buffet too. I was delighted with our stay, my boyfriend wasn’t happy about having to go to the onsen to shower, but he got into the spirit and enjoyed himself."

"If you're looking for a swank hotel, then this is not you're looking for. However, if you are looking for an excellent place to stay with gracious hosts and family, then this is a perfect spot in Tanabe. We stayed here on 10/24-25 to hike Kumano Kodo trail. Koushi and Chiyoko were extremely gracious hosts and treated us like family while we were there. They went "beyond the call of duty" to help us in finding a lost jacket left on the train and they made sure we were safe all along the way. ...

"Tried to check out and could not as they did not have staff to take payment. Had to leave to make it to bus in order to catch my train and flight. Has to go to extraordinary lengths to pay them after. Also extremely overpriced for this hotel, would never come back."

"The area is very central and it felt safe. However, the stairs to the upper floor felt dangerous because of height between steps. For older people, it can be risky. The outhouse style toilets are a little tedious to get to because of the gravel. I tried to walk very carefully to not wake up people sleeping in the lower floor. The gravels crunched loudly. I can’t complain because it was priced right. "

"I love the onsen beside the river"

"we spent a night in the hotel so we can start hiking Kumano Kodo early next day. nice hotel, they claim they have the biggest outdoor hot spring pool, but we used smaller family pool, the setting is very like outdoor pool."

"Property was decent, but is in need of some renovation (which it appears they are doing right now). The staff is friendly and accommodating (very few speak English, but they try their best). The hotel is short taxi ride from many areas, including Tanabe. They have a vendor selling fresh oranges in the lobby, which was a nice surprise."

"Very goog transitional Japanese onsen experience. Staff said good English, comfortable room with great view to the outside. Dinner super tasty."

"I stayed for 2 nights and it was an amazing experience! I want to come back! They weren't just hospitable with their delicious cooking, but they help out with your itinerary to make sure you get the best out of your trip! With their warm welcomes, good cooking, and breathtaking views of Wakayama. This place is one of a kind that you must experience. Plus they tend to turkey, a rooster, and 50 goats! "

"A nice place to stay for an authentic experience. The host is very responsive to any questions you’ll have. If hiking be aware the house is about 2km from the trail and you have to descend the amount you climbed to get back to the road- hike back up approx 45 minutes. Be sure to set up food/transportation if you need them 2 weeks in advance. "

"It is clean and sufficient. Downside is that it is a bit dated, lack out power outlets to charge all the electronic devices. The host, Ken is very friendly and gave me a excellent intro of the area. I only stayed one night before hiking the Kumano Kodo. It is close to the train/bus station so that is a plus."

"This is a guesthouse, not a hotel. Be sure you know this before booking. You get a private room with bedrolls for the number of people you booked. The owner speaks English, and is willing to drive you to the train station, or supermarket if you need something. He will also pick you up if you are able to call in advance. The bathrooms were clean, and the owners very friendly! A great authentic Japanese experience!"
