"Property was decent, but is in need of some renovation (which it appears they are doing right now). The staff is friendly and accommodating (very few speak English, but they try their best). The hotel is short taxi ride from many areas, including Tanabe. They have a vendor selling fresh oranges in the lobby, which was a nice surprise."

"Very friendly owner/host. Excellent service. Good Japanese-style bath. Western toilet and WiFi only on first floor. Breakfast room available for guests use (no meals served by inn). Close-by supermarket. Only wish they didn’t smoke because odor permeates property."

"If you're looking for a swank hotel, then this is not you're looking for. However, if you are looking for an excellent place to stay with gracious hosts and family, then this is a perfect spot in Tanabe. We stayed here on 10/24-25 to hike Kumano Kodo trail. Koushi and Chiyoko were extremely gracious hosts and treated us like family while we were there. They went "beyond the call of duty" to help us in finding a lost jacket left on the train and they made sure we were safe all along the way. ...

"Great hotel location, directly on the beach & superbe view of the ocean from the room. The hotel room could use a little update, but it was quaint and clean. The staff was very helpful with diner reservations & questions. The breakfast was outstanding!!! "

"The sunset is super beautfil, with the infinity pool & enjoy with foot spa. The enterainment room is great with table tennis, golf, snooker, table football, kids play room, music room. And special event on weekend. Will come again. Highly recommended. Just a suggestion to improve the food quality in the buffet. "

"Our stay at the Ekoin Temple was a highlight of our trip to Japan and we will be back! Thank you to all the wonderful people of Koyasan and our shukubo for their hospitality, kindness, and openness to welcoming visitors to this most special place. Our accommodations, the food, and temple grounds were truly wonderful.
