At first we were unsure about the travel because we started in Tokyo and then we were headed to Kyoto and this added another 8 hours or so of train travel (over two days). That said, we were determined to see the snow monkeys and to stay in an authentic ryokan, so we did it and I am so glad we did!! The travel turned out to be relaxing and part of the adventure. The snow monkeys were awe inspiring and the ryokan was a beautiful experience....
