"The staff was great. Rooms are very basic but sufficient. The hotel is located close to the downtown area. The neighborhood is safe but looks dumpy and is noisy. Ear plugs help. There are lots of homeless. Overall, this hotel is a good value. There is a lot of food options. Again, the neighborhood will look scary but its actually very safe."

Please note that the hotel payment must be made at the hotel in cash. When you arrive, you are warmly greeted and shown to your room. The breakfast eating area is alive with colour and artwork as well as plants and a tree growing up beyond the roof. It is a perfect setting for a relaxing breakfast. "The linens were clean, however upon arrival there was no running water. There was a large crack in the room under the outside door, I had to stuff a blanket there so animals would not come in. The floors were dirty along with the showers and toilets. The social environment was poor. "

"Small nice hotel in the heart in San Jose on barrio Escalante, very convenient to stay 1-2 nights to enjoy the city and/or night life . Room is average, beds, beddings, towels, soap in the bathroom, no fan or AC, it was a cool weather, so no needed. No elevator for the second floor, about 10 steps. The breakfast is great with traditional Costa Rican gallo pinto, coffee and fruits to start the day. Easy to walk everywhere or call Uber/taxi"
